The time has come... After 12 1/2 years of being open and providing a fun and challenging Motocross track the time has come for us to close the gates to the public as of Dec 31st 2017. Why? You ask? Simple, lack of... Lack of support, lack of help, lack of intrest, what ever excuse you want to hear we have an answer for it, but when it boils down to a 1 man operation, a second job and lack of appriciation will wear down even the most hardened Motocross Track operator. We tried for over a decade to bring Motocross racing to Raton, but got hit head on with haters from every angle, we talked to Raton city council, they hated us, we tried talking more then 1 time with Grow Raton and even Raton Main street, sure people said "oh talk to so and so" but so and so would say go talk to so and so and pass the buck, plain and simple they did not want us. Rising insurance costs, constant worry of being sued (luckily we never had that, thank GOD). I have paid out of my pocket close to $10,000 a year (times 12.5 years) to operate the track, with an income at a micro-fraction of that. WHY? Because I did it for the riders, I never had any mone to buy more equipment, I could never push it over the top to buy gates, get races. We are VERY lucky we had a VERY few (more like 2... 2 people) who have helped us (not naming names). It's now just too risky to operate the track, our accountant and lawyer has advized we close to the public, so here we are. We have LOTS of great memories with everyone who came out and rode our track and enjoyed it. We thank each and everyone of you who came to ride our track. You are all in our hearts and our memories. We do however want to point you at another riding area 777 MX TRACK north of Trinidad, Some good friends of ours and past riders of our track, has had some good intrest and we wish them well. Built on small rolling hills giving some nice elevation changes. Uphill start with a massive right hand turn one leading into a 60' Tabletop. (very nice wide and super smooth launch and landing, very safe). 10 Tabletops and 3 small doubles. Tabletops range from small roller table tops of 10 feet long, most of the jump table tops range from 40' to a high speed 4th gear pinned 70'er, all built with safety in mind. (nice long easy launches and nice long forgiving landings. New step up and step down incorporated, very fun and safe. several off-chambered corners. Average 15' wide (being expanded to 20'+) with some sweepers up to 30' wide. All jumps are 20' wide with strong low maintenance faces. 9 right hand turns and 11 left hand turns make for very fun sections for multiple line choices for passing. Built with Motocross bikes in mind but still fun challenging and safe for Quads
